The East Midlands Learning and Skills Partnership and the East Midlands Learning Support Network are hosting an event to promote the benefits of working with the Voluntary and Community Sector to deliver learning, skills and development opportunities.

The event will include speakers and interactive workshops as well as opportunities for networking and partnership development.

Registration and refreshments will be available from 9:30 for a 10:00 am start. The event will close at 1:00 with a buffet lunch till 2:00.

The presentations and workshops will give delegates the opportunity to find out and discuss more about a range of issues including:
 
    * The benefits of working with VCS and Third Sector learning 

       providers
    * Support for vulnerable learners
    * Networking in ‘interesting times’
    * Workforce Development and Skills Strategies
    * Apprenticeships and the voluntary sector
 
Highlights will include the official launch of the East Midlands Learning Support Network and preliminary findings from the East Midlands VCS Workforce Development Project.

Derbyshire Dales CVS are running a funding workshop on Tuesday 14th September 2010.

Groups can book a slot to talk about their funding issues, have us read over an application, have look through a funding database with one of the development workers.

This course will give a brief overview on tackling discrimination in employment and in the provision of goods and services. The course will focus on the new equality legislation and how these apply in our advice giving.

Registration and refreshments is from 9.30am.

Lunch will be available from 1pm—2pm

The courses will:

• increase your knowledge and understanding of existing and new equality laws.
• identify types of discrimination, victimisation, harassment & unequal treatment across all equality strands.
• help you tackle discrimination
• consider recent case law in discrimination
• cover legal responsibilities of employers and service providers.

This course is for:

• Advice workers working in CAB and independent advice agencies
• Individuals who have experienced discrimination

FATIMA Women’s Network is working with Social Enterprise East Midlands (SEEM) in a regional Social Enterprise project entitled, ‘Making Money Matters!’, funded by Capacity Builders. The project aims to increase, grow and develop Social Enterprises within Black Asian Minority Ethnic Refugee (BAMER) communities.

Details of our next event are as follows:

What: ‘Family Fun Day’ with free hot buffet, free henna tattoos, free threading and face painting, as well as children’s activities, games and stalls.

Where: Hardwick Primary School, Hastings Street, Derby, DE23 6QQ.

When: Sat. 25th Sep 2010 at 11am-3pm.

Our key objectives for this event are:

1. To invite different communities to raise their awareness of Social Enterprises by meeting with Social Entrepreneurs, as well as access information on setting up an Social Enterprise/Enterprise.

2. To offer agencies who support Social Enterprises/Enterprises the opportunity to advertise their services and provide information.

3. To allow Social Enterprises/Enterprises a free stand/stall to promote their business.
